Fall Is The Perfect Time To Celebrate Golden Horseshoe’s 50th Anniversary

Beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, an Audubon sanctuary, and special golf packages make autumn the season to savor Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club and autumn were made for each other. Cooler temperatures, colorful leaves and one of the country’s finest golf courses beckon.
But that’s not all. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Gold Course, and special packages and rates help mark the celebration. Commemorating the opening of the Robert Trent Jones Sr-designed Gold Course – one of the most highly regarded courses in the country and the one that Jones himself referred to as his “finest design” – golfers can experience incredible golf and America’s living history lesson all at once.
From August 31 to November 26, three-day/two-night packages begin at $164 per person per night at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel and Suites, and include:
  • Accommodations at a choice of Colonial Williamsburg hotels
  • One round of golf for every night of the stay per golfer
  • Free replay rounds (to be booked upon completion of first round)
  • Free rental of PING golf clubs
  • Unlimited range balls
  • Commemorative 50th anniversary golf pouch and Golden Horseshoe yardage book
Routed through mature woodlands and always in excellent condition, the Gold Course is a beautiful challenge. When it opened in 1963, Jones described it as “a natural arboretum,” and it is designated as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary golf course.
Fifty years later, the Gold Course continues to win raves and collect honors. It is included on Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 You Can Play” list of public-access courses, and is noted as one of the Top Six Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses named by Golf Digest, joining the likes of Ireland’s Ballybunion, Spain’s Valderrama, and California’s Spyglass Hill.
As soon as that first hint of autumn crispness brushes your cheek, come to Golden Horseshoe Golf Club and see what golfers have been talking about for half a century. The Gold Course is as much a gem as it’s always been, and the special Anniversary Package makes it a rare treat.

ORLANDO, FL – February 26, 2013 – If playing the famous Bay Hill golf course at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge has always been on your bucket list, 2013 is the year to make it happen, and you won’t need a bucket of money to realize your dream.  Playing where the PGA TOUR plays just got a little easier with the 2013 Bay Hill Bucket List Golf Package which includes a comfortable lodge guest room, full breakfast, choice of one round of championship golf or a soothing spa treatment.  Guests will also receive the trademark umbrella logo pin which is the symbol of the Palmer brand around the world and a special keepsake gift upon check-in.  The Bucket List Package is offered from $171-263 per person, per night based on double occupancy (pricing varies with seasonality), making it surprisingly affordable to plan your trip to this legendary venue that tops so many bucket lists for both the avid and weekend golfer.  Reservations can be made by calling (888) 422-9445 or visiting www.BayHill.com.  (Applicable taxes not included.)

The history of Bay Hill and this charming golf club is steeped in tradition.  The highly regarded golf course was built in 1961, with breathtaking views that sweep across 270 acres along the shores of the Butler Chain of Lakes.  The property later became a favorite of legendary golfer Arnold Palmer after he competed in an exhibition match with Jack Nicklaus and Don Cherry on the then unknown course in 1965.  On that day Palmer fell in love with Bay Hill and began the quest to make it his own.  By 1970, that dream was a reality and Bay Hill has been the winter home of the Palmer family ever since.  In 1979 Mr. Palmer successfully created a tournament that became an official PGA TOUR stop, attracting some of the strongest fields of the season, now called the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard which takes place March 18-24, 2013.   Just like Arnold Palmer himself, Bay Hill is very charismatic and inviting, and for those that love the traditions of the game, Bay Hill is the perfect Bucket List venue.  The Lodge features 70 rooms, a full service Spa and Fitness Center, and outstanding cuisine in 3 restaurants. Click here for the complete History of Bay Hill.

Located just minutes from downtown Orlando and area attractions, Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge is the site of the annual Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard golf tournament.  The 70-room property features 27-holes of golf, the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy, tennis on four Har-tru and two DecoTurf courts, a full service spa and salon, fitness center, a heated Jr. Olympic-size pool, three dining locations, 3 lounges, and 9,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.  For reservations or membership information, call (888) 422-9445 or (407) 876-2429.

Campers will be treated to daily trail rides, Astronomy Night and outings to Altos de Chavon, the recreated Medieval European village and artists’ community situated within the resort high above the Chavon River, where art, language and cultural classes are available from the prestigious Parson School of Design.  Skeet and sporting clay and polo instruction is offered based on each camper’s assessed competency and interest in each sport. A special awards banquet closes out each session.
